Irises in the Sunshine

NEW WORKS FROM THE STUDIO OF ART BY WENDY

Irises in the Sunshine  7 x 11, Watercolour, $300 Framed

Okay, okay, I am definitely feeling like spring!  We have had a few really nice warm sunny days, we are famous for them in February.  Remember 2010 when we hardly had any snow for the Olympics!  Well we have had some of those days and I just want to paint sunshine and flowers and buy tulips and primroses!! I even went to the driving range to hit some balls.  I am ready for colour, tired of gray skies and heavy sweaters. I think that my Irises and part of my rebellion!! So join with me, let's celebrate Spring and maybe we can get it here a little bit sooner.
As always, cards and prints of all my work are available starting at $3.50 for cards.  (As you can imagine, these Irises make a dynamite card!!)  Have a good day.

The Meeting Place - for chickens and artists!!

NEW WORKS FROM THE STUDIO OF ART BY WENDY
THE MEETING PLACE - 10 X 12  Graphite, $340 unframed

Chickens and farms seemed to go together.  When I was out to Kilby Historical site last spring I took some great pictures of this rooster on the fence.  He was busy calling everyone to attention.  The hens of course were just eating and paying no mind.  I decided to build this picture giving him all the attention he was looking for!!  (Kilby opens Easter Weekend, March 28 with their outdoor Easter Egg Hunt www.kilby.ca )

Update on the new Artist in Residence Gallery in Langley:  We are now almost in full swing there.  There are only 2 studios left, yes the bank vault has been rented.  We should number approx. 30 artists in total when all the dust settles, of course not everyone is there every day but Mon - Sat. 10-5pm you can count on a goodly number in Residence working and ready to talk about their work.  A very unique place in the Fraser Valley.  My days are usually Mon and Fri afternoon, so see you this Friday.

Cuddles

NEW WORKS FROM THE STUDIO OF ART BY WENDY

Cuddles 5.5 x 6.6 Sold

One more Christmas Secret I wanted to share with you.  Cuddles, a lovely cat and one I really enjoyed drawing.  Working with this picture brought back all kinds of memories for me, when Steve and I were first married we got a pet, our own cat called Cuddles.  She was a manx, and only 8 weeks old.  What a wonderful pet she was, so smart, friendly and yet independent in the way that cats are.  As a kitten she climbed our Christmas tree and so we had to tie it, she would fetch a ball as good as any dog and she could stare any dog down that came near her.  My  Rusty would have been putty in her claws!!
Enjoy Cuddles, I know owners were very happy with the picture and I hope she brings wonderful memories to you as well.

As always cards and prints are available of all my work for as low as $3.50.

Dancing in the Sunlight has danced away

NEW WORKS FROM THE STUDIO OF ART BY WENDY

DANCING IN THE SUNLIGHT - SOLD

Dancing in the Sunlight has set a new record, well for me, I designed it, painted it and entered it in the Federation of Canadian Artists juried show during my Christmas holidays .  It was accepted and so off it went to the show.  The show opened today and it is gone!!  Certainly an amazing trip for picture.  I loved the picture and I am pleased to see it off to a good home.

Dancing Brushes are making their Debut

That's me in our workspace, one of our gallery areas is behind me.
NEW WORKS FROM THE STUDIO OF ART BY WENDY

Hey, we are really moving into the big times now – a real live artist community here in the ‘burbs’.  Yes, the Langley Arts Council has taken over the old CIBC bank and created an artist community.  Imagine all those little office spaces as individual artist workshops, even the vault is an artist gallery and work space.

Yes, I am in the vault!!
I know in the city there are warehouse areas with artist’s studios but outside of that it is hard to find this kind of space.  I have moved in to a spot with a small group of artists, we are the Dancing Brushes and our workspace is the area that the tellers would have used and the whole back wall is our display area.  There are already over 20 artists moved in and more to come, very, very exciting for the art community and beyond.
Entrance has seats and gallery space too!!

So come down and check it out, Artist in Residence Gallery, 20550 Fraser Hwy, open Mon-Sat 10-5pm.  I plan on being there 12:30-3:30 most Mondays and Fridays.
